Apartment & condo movers in Los Angeles

Building windows, freight elevators, loading zones, COI requirements, tight LA street parking — apartment and condo moves are a specialty, not an afterthought.

LA apartment moves have rules. We know them.

An apartment or condo move in Los Angeles has three layers most movers don't talk about up front: the building (move-in window, freight elevator reservation, padding, COI), the street (loading zones, parking permits, fire-lane restrictions, double-parking enforcement), and the unit itself (stairs, narrow doorways, tight turns, floor protection). We plan all three before the truck shows up.

  • COI on file before move daySend us your building's COI template; we file it with property management at no cost. Most LA high-rises require this.
  • Elevator-pad coordinationWe confirm freight-elevator reservations and bring extra blankets for cab protection.
  • Loading-zone planningWe pre-check parking restrictions and arrive early enough to claim a legal spot.
  • Stairs & long carriesWalk-ups, basement units, garden apartments — we quote stair flights and long carries up front so the bill matches the quote.

Building requirements to send us

When you book, send us:

  1. Building's move-in/move-out hours (most LA buildings restrict moves to 9 AM–5 PM weekdays, sometimes weekends with a fee)
  2. COI template from property management (the named insureds and limits they require)
  3. Freight-elevator reservation — typically you book this directly with the building; we coordinate the arrival window
  4. Loading-zone notes — is there a loading dock? Does the truck need to be on the street? Are there height restrictions?
  5. Unit details — floor number, walk-up vs elevator, any narrow doorways or tight turns we should know about

How apartment pricing works

Apartment moves are hourly (like other local moves) with a two-hour minimum and the usual California double drive time. Stairs, long carries, and shuttle trucks (if the building's loading restrictions require a smaller vehicle) get added as line items on the quote, never as surprises at the end of the move.

Typical local apartment-move ranges, with a 2-person crew:

  • Studio — 2–3 hours total
  • 1 bedroom — 3–5 hours total
  • 2 bedroom — 5–7 hours total (often a 3-person crew is faster and cheaper)
  • 3 bedroom — 6–9 hours total with a 3- or 4-person crew

Common LA apartment scenarios we handle

  • Downtown / DTLA high-rises — Bunker Hill, South Park, Arts District. COI universal, freight elevators tight, loading docks usually available.
  • Ventura Blvd corridor — Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Encino. Mid-rise buildings with COI requirements; loading zones on side streets.
  • Westside — Brentwood, Westwood, Culver City. Mix of high-rises and walk-ups; parking is the limiting factor.
  • Hollywood / Mid-City — older walk-up buildings, lots of stair carries, plenty of meter parking that needs early-morning bagging.
  • San Fernando Valley garden apartments — Reseda, Van Nuys, North Hollywood. Two-story walk-ups, long open-air carries.

Frequently asked questions

How early should I book an apartment move?

Two to three weeks is comfortable. First-of-the-month and last-of-the-month dates fill up first because of lease rollovers. Saturdays in summer go fastest.

My building requires a COI — is that included?

Yes. COIs at no extra charge. Forward us the template from property management when you book and we'll have it filed before move day.

What if the truck can't reach the building?

For LA buildings with loading restrictions, we sometimes use a shuttle vehicle (a smaller truck) to ferry between the building and a larger truck parked legally nearby. That gets quoted up front, not surprise-billed.

Stairs?

Quoted up front per flight. Tell us the floor count and whether the building has elevators or is walk-up only; we adjust crew size and quote accordingly.

Do you move studio apartments?

Yes — studios are some of our most common LA moves. Two-hour minimum applies.

Apartment move on the calendar?

Two to three weeks of lead time gets you on our schedule and gives your building time to approve the COI.
